Study into how Concussion affects Inhibitory Control
This new study by Dr Adrian Owen and his team shows how concussion can affect an individual’s inhibitory control.
Makes me think of some rugby players who are unable to stop themselves after the whistle has blown. Have they suffered from previous concussions?
Beyond the sports field, it raises valid questions of how this translates into the world of work- related risk, particularly safety critical roles. Is a previously concussed individual going to take extra risks because of inhibitory impairment?
Should people in these roles be pre-screened for such impairment to reduce the risk to themselves and to others?
