The Society of Occupational Medicine ( SOM ) has recently published this guide to managing Long Covid in the Workforce.
Problems with cognition are very common and the guide makes reference to using MoCA for initial assessment and rehabilitation.
Now there are a couple of issues here.
MoCA is only validated for 55 to 85 year olds and it also only assesses for severe cognitive impairment.
With this in mind, is it an appropriate tool for workers under 55? What about all those, of any age, who have more nuanced impairment. How does it address the sensitivity and specificity of their problems?
In comparison, Cambridge Brain Sciences is validated for ages 8 to 96 and can detect the most mild impairments.
Get in touch if you are involved in Long Covid treatment/ rehabilitation and would like to know more.
